Background

The Community Services Project (SBMT2100) gives students the opportunity to work in teams with a Non-governmental Organization/Social Enterprises (Project Partner) on a project that applies concepts, knowledge, skills and methodologies learned from business courses to specific, real-world business problems and issues. Here at HKUST Business School, we recognize and support the importance of community service. Join our efforts in making a positive impact by participating in Community Services Project, incorporated in your undergraduate business curriculum.

In this credit-bearing project, you can apply what you have learned in your studies and make a difference in people’s lives.

Objectives

  • To analyze basic organizational and the Project Partner issues from both internal and external perspectives
  • To give and receive feedback on project performance from peers and project supervisors
  • To participate interactively in team discussions and decision-making
  • To present essential findings in both written and oral form to a variety of stakeholders in the project

Duration

The course SBMT 2100 Community Service Project is offered in Fall Term and Spring Term

Eligibility

Year 2 or above Full-time UG Business Students

Application & Selection Procedure

  • Interested students are strongly encouraged to attend the info session during the term break. Following the session, please submit your application to be considered for shortlisting for an interview.
  • Applicants will be selected based on their interview performance, motivation, academic results, and experience.
  • Successful applicants will be notified about enrolling in the course through the system.
  • The next application will start in Spring term of academic year of 2025 - 2026. For more information, please stay tuned for our email update.
